Skyscan can announce the purchase of the London Aerial Archive, a collection of over 98,000 colour aerial photographs of the UK captured from 1978 to modern day. This extensive collection adds to their existing specialist aerial photolibrary and complements their unique bird's eye view of Britain captured from the Skyscan (TM) Balloon Camera.
Library Manager Brenda Marks said "Having worked closely with the previous owners for many years, we are delighted to add the London Aerial archive to our in-house collection. Despite it's name there are many timeless and classic images from all over the British Isles particularly of heritage sites, towns and cities. We are in the process of computerising the collection which will make online searching a future possibility."
In addition to offering newly commissioned and stock aerial imagery, Skyscan locate and supply historic aerial imagery of the UK to clients involved in legal, planning and environmental investigations. The early images in this historic archive will be of particular benefit to such clients and the acquisition has now assured the future of this important aerial photographic collection.
